Bitter

Bitter is a lightweight Twitter client built on .NET, so it's Windows only. From the Bitterware site:

It consumes a low amount of memory, is theme-able, is secure (uses HTTPS for authentication and encrypts authentication details), uses a familiar tabbed-interface and so much more!

Twitter for Power Users

Bitter is extremely efficient, with keyboard shortcuts defined for everything, making it a great choice for nerds who like to keep their hands on the keyboard, safely away from their mouse.

Other Features

  • Multiple social networks - This Twitter app has support for many other social networks, including Twitter, Plurk, Pownce (RIP), and Friend Feed
  • Groups - Dubbed "Friend Lists" in Bitter, you can make a separate tab for a group of users, for example Co-workers or celebrities
  • Composing - Bitter includes spell check and auto-completion for usernames
  • Customizable - You can apply different themes to Bitter, and it plays nice with Aero (the Vista look and feel)
  • Bitter also shortens URLs on the fly, recognizes #hashtags, and other standard Twitter amenities we've come to expect from Twitter clients
