Tweetie is a gorgeous, full-featured desktop Twitter client for Macintosh. atebits is the company behind Tweetie, already known for the fantastic iPhone version of Tweetie. Notable features include:
- Beautiful Interface - very quick, intuitive, useful, and great looking. This interface feels like it came straight from Cupertino, with subtle yet helpful use of Core Animation effects to enrich the user interface.
- Search and Save - perform public timeline searches, and save them for later.
- Multiple Accounts - Tweetie gracefully handles multiple accounts' worth of information, which is again reminiscent of in-house Apple software, with a subdued sidebar grouping each account.
- Excellent DM Management - Tweetie's direct messages are grouped by each user, instead of in chronological order. This makes it much easier to handle, since typically you remember who sent you something, not when they sent it.
- Video Recording - if your computer has a camera attached (and most Macs do nowadays), you can record a video and post it — all without leaving Tweetie. It uses yfrog to host the video.

Standard Twitter Features
Of course, it has all the standard features and streams, including friends, @ mentions, and direct messages. You can follow, unfollow, and block users as well. It's also worth noting that their software updates are clean and quick, a very solid app all around!
Purchase the No-Ads version
The makers of Tweetie ask $19.95 for the ad-free version. It seems a little high given the typical price in this software niche, but the ads are admittedly well-designed (and blockable if you have something like Little Snitch). They don't really get in your way either.
